Optometrist

Duties and Responsibilities:  The duties and responsibilities of this career are to perform vision tests and analyze results. Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma. Also, prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications. They also perform vision tests and analyze results, provide treatments such as vision therapy or low vision rehabilitation, provide pre post operative care to patients undergoing eye surgery.

Salary:  103,900 USD

Education required : Optometrists need a Doctor of Optometry degree, applicants must have completed 3 years of post secondary education which would include coursework in biology, chemistry , physics, math and english. Must have a bachelor’s degree before enrolling in a doctor optometrist program.

Demand or need of profession: must have a O.D. from an accredited optometry school and must complete all the sections of National Board of examiners.

Reflection:  I would not like to study this career because I want to be a fashion designer and that is my passion.
